Selly Oak Access Road

Location: A38 Bristol Road, Selly Oak, Birmingham
Description: A new 10m wide single carriageway will be constructed to the north west of Selly Oak centre. The new road will be designated as the A38 and the existing route through Selly Oak will be re-classified. The road will:
- Provide capacity for through traffic, including HGV’s, to transfer from Bristol Road creating improvement opportunities for Selly Oak.
- Enable access to the new £521 million Queen Elizabeth II hospital development and technology and retail developments on Battery Park.
Work, using private contributions, has started; work, using DfT contributions, is expected to commence May-09.
