Opportunities to Improve Safety

<p id=“task_137_ID_1”><span style=“font-weight:bold;”></span> Road safety raises issues of scale and complexity, and requires a coordinated effort and the use of both revenue and capital resources. Our strategy for Road Safety is detailed in the&nbsp; Annexes and will be tackled through: </p>

<ul id=“task_137_ID_2”> <li>analysis of problems and trends</li> <li>targeted improvements using capital and revenue resources</li> <li>management of the maintenance and operation of existing systems</li> <li>innovation and evaluation of new ideas</li> <li>adoption of safe design</li> <li>auditing of proposals</li> </ul> <p id=“task_137_ID_3”><span style=“font-weight:bold;”></span> Opportunities to improve road safety also arise through partnership with Government, the West Midlands Police Authority and Highways Agency, and through working corporately with other service areas, such as Education and Planning. </p>
