8.2 Methodology of the assessment
The assessment hasutilised the significance criteria presented in Section 5 to assess how theactions of the plan will affect the relevant SEA topic.
As well asestimating the direct impacts of the LTP2 on the environmental topics, an assessmentof the likely changes to the environmental baseline that may result fromsecondary, cumulative and synergistic impacts is presented. The impacts arealso investigated in terms of:
- Temporal Scale of the effects (Short, medium or long term) (Permanent or Temporary);
- Reversibility of the effects;
- Magnitude and spatial extent of the effects;
- Value and vulnerability of the area likely to be affected; and
- Cross-boundary nature of the effects.
