1.4 Spatial and Temporal Scope
The spatial scope for the assessment is the West Midlands Metropolitan Area. However where potential impacts have been identified that could affect the environment or transport patterns outside the immediate area (i.e. impacts on the district and unitary authorities within Warwickshire, Staffordshire, and Worcestershire) these have also been assessed for their significance.
The SEA has examined three timescales:
- Short term effects: effects expected in the next 1-5 years;
- Medium term effects: effects expected in the next 5-10 years; and
- Long term effects: effects expected in the next 10+years.
These have been chosen to reflect the duration of the plan itself (a 5
year costed implementation strategy and a longer term strategy).
