Red Routes in Wolverhampton
Wolverhampton were one of the Districts selected to introduce a ‘pilot’ Red Route within the West Midlands on the A449 Stafford Road.
A449 Stafford Road
Wolverhampton is now in a position to deliver their first Red Route. Following successfull planning approval the authority is now able to develop and provide improved off-street parking facilities at the rear of the Three Tuns Shopping Parade.
To date road and junction improvements have been provided to reduce congestion and journey times and increase road safety. Improved pedestrian and disabled facilites have been provided along with new and upgraded pedestrian crossings to assist pedestrian movements, in particular the infirm and visually impaired.
In mid January we will commence works on the Three Tuns Car Park along with the introduction of the Red Route signs and lines. The Red Route is programmed to be completed and thereafter enforced from mid March 2007, once all the works are completed on site.
