Red Routes in Sandwell

Following on from the introduction of Red Route measures on the A41 Black Country New Road, Sandwell are now due to start on a second Red Route along the A34 with more routes to follow.

A34 Walsall Road

This scheme has been developed as part of a joint initiative with the Bus Showcase Programme (Route 51) and in co-ordination with both Walsall MBC and Birmingham CC. Extensive advanced works have already been undertaken to divert various statutory undertakers equipment, which has been necessary due to the revised alignment of the road under the new proposals. The main works have been divided into four separate phases, with the current construction programme detailed below:

Phase 1 – M6 Junction 7 to Merrions Close (February 2007 – November 2007)
Phase 2 – M6 Junction 7 (November 2007 – February 2008)
Phase 3 – Scott Arms Junction to M6 Junction 7 (January 2007 – July 2007)
Phase 4 – Scott Arms Junction (July 2007 – September 2007)
