This Local Transport Plan
Our first two LTPs have succeeded in securing more investment and in raising awareness of transport issues amongst stakeholders and the public. Now we must build on that success and maintain or increase the pace of improvement.
This LTP2 refines and takes forward the principles outlined in the 2003 LTP. It continues to focus on the Transport Shared Priority and Quality of Life objectives, together with supporting local regeneration. Further consultation in 2005 has shown no significant change in the strong public support for the overall strategy.
We have updated the 2003 LTP to take account of the 'up to £1 billion' pledge and new Government Guidance and to align our policies and programmes with other strategies outlined in Could not find task_96_ID_5 and discussed in Chapter ‘Setting Transport in its Wider Context’. We have strengthened our partnership arrangements to ensure that other agencies consider transport from the outset of their schemes.
Evidence
Transport planning officers have been working with the team that is developing the Birmingham Eastern Corridor housing proposals to ensure that the housing renewal strategy recognises and deals with travel and transport issues from the outset.

This LTP2 has increased the involvement of stakeholders and the community, and provides ways to both solve problems and enhance everyone’s quality of life.
