Transport Innovation Fund
As part of the Government’s Transport Innovation Fund (TIF) programme, the West Midlands has been working, since July 2005, on whether to submit a bid to support public transport investment and other measures to combat congestion. Over that time, we have published findings in two reports on the impact of road congestion in the region and options for improved public transport. Following extensive consultations, surveying and technical work, we have now published our findings on the feasibility of bidding for TIF funding in the report Tackling Congestion, Delivering Growth Click the link to find out more.
Quick Wins
The West Midlands Local Authorities are working with the business community to identify specific locations on the road network where small interventions could have a positive impact on road congestion. Businesses were encouraged to submit a questionnaire outlining the location and details of congestion they encounter which were then analysed by the appropriate Highway Authority.
